Not-so-sane

Dear long lost blog,
I am sorry that I have neglected you for over a week. It is hard to write only failures in one's attempts to be money savey and healthy. I am confessing now that I indeed used the dreaded "drano". I tried everything else! I poured enough boiling water down the drain to wear out a teapot. I sloshed more vinager and baking soda mixture down the hole than I can afford (and that stuff is cheap). I even tried the water pressure method. The result: one very clogged drain. I would like to say that this will be the last time I use that nasty and expensive chemical, but between my roommate leaving her hair on the shower walls and my in ability to do anything that involves touching it, it still goes down the drain. I know...I need to buck up and get one of those hair catchers. I just haven't found one that isn't raised and since our shower is smaller that a phone booth, there is no room to stand around one.

The next batch of failures is related to my supposed success with making homemade bread. When it turns out right, it is a great way to save money and be healthy.
For some weird reason the last three batches have failed. They came out hard and super dense. My dad suggested it might be that the yeast has expired. I think it might be the flour. Whatever the reason, my college student budget I can't afford to throw away so many ingredients. So I just finished a tolerable, almost rubbery slice of toast with coconut butter and agave.
Hoping for better results this week,
Sanegreen Woman
